This is a starter for new loose tea drinkers on how to make loose tea on the stove. MOST of you already know how to make tea using loose material; this instructional aide is not for you; this is for the new tea drinkers who do not have an infuser and who are new to loose tea.
Making tea using loose tea material is easy. The tea bag method is more convenient, but the loose tea is better because it tends to be more flavorful. The loose tea can move around in the hot water and create a better infusion whereas the tea bags does not allow the tea to move around as well which reduces the infusion potency.
To make loose tea on the stovetop, you can follow these steps:
1. Add tea leaves and water
Place tea leaves in a pot or cup, then add hot water. A general recommendation is to use one teaspoon of loose leaf tea for every six ounces of water. However, you can use more or less depending on the type of tea and how strong you like it.
2. Steep (soak)
Let the tea steep for the recommended amount of time.
Steeping tea is the process of soaking tea leaves in water to extract their flavor and bioactive compounds.
3. FILTER (click)
Remove the tea leaves using a strainer, coffee filter, or colander. If you don’t have an infuser, you can pour the tea through a slotted spoon or mesh strainer.
4. Serve
Pour the tea into a cup or glass. If you want iced tea, you can pour the steeped tea over ice in a separate glass.
It’s just that easy!!!

If you are interested in getting yourself a tea infuser, I would recommend getting a pot vs. a ball infuser. a ball infuser will only put you right back in the category of a teabag!
