- Soak 1 cup of dry moss in lukewarm water for a few minutes, then rinse the moss well to clean out any pebbles or blue rope pieces. It is grown on ropes in the ocean, and pieces of this rope may be left over from harvest.
- In a large saucepan, place moss in 5 cups of fresh water. If you are preparing for a sea moss drink, add a 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg powder and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder to flavor it.
- Cook on low for about 1/2 hour. Choose a large pan, because the moss will expand to triple its’ size! 4. When the moss has softened and become a light yellow color and multiplied its volume, it is ready to process into paste. A) For a delicious and healthful drink, blend the soaked moss in a high-speed blender with 1 cup coconut milk (homemade or canned is best). B) For topical use, blend with 3/4 cup water in a high speed blender.
